Nebbi Diocese, Uganda

As a Church, we want to follow the example of Jesus Christ so that:

  • People may experience the love of God and
  • Grow spiritually, mentally, physically, socially, economically, and institutionally.

Nebbi Diocese, Uganda sits just north of the Equator in the hills and mountains of the northwest of the country. It has a boundary with the Democratic Republic of Congo and the border with South Sudan is not far to the north. St Peter’s close connection with Nebbi stretches back 25 years, with personal connections (Desmond and Nicky Thuambe) and visits. It has grown in recent years with the appointment a new Bishop of Nebbi, and thrives now with visits, and active support – a relationship which has been of enormous benefit to everyone!

In October 2024, a group of 9 people from Yateley spent over 2 weeks in Nebbi, visiting projects, schools and community groups, before spending some time in the stunningly beautiful Murchison  Falls National Park. As part of the trip, Desmond was made a Canon of the Cathedral in Nebbi, further bringing the link closer.

In July 2025, Bishop Pons, along with his wife Edna and two others visited Yateley and visited schools and church groups, as well as being part of a Baptism and confirmation Service.

A group from St Peter’s is planning to visit Nebbi in August 2026.
