Life Groups

Our aim at St Peter’s is for everyone to be connected with one of the network of small groups that meet throughout the week across Yateley. Each group is different, catering for different age groups and needs but, together, they form a strong and enduring structure that is at the heart of St Peter’s. Each term we look at a different topic – it may be a book of the Bible or a theme that crosses different books. In recent years, we have covered subjects such as “The Lord’s Prayer” and “The Fruit of the Spirit” as well as taking a year to look at “The Bible – The Big Picture”, working through many different books to gain an overall sense of what the Bible is about.

We call these “Life Groups” because they invite us to share with others in discovering the “Life in Abundance” that Jesus talked about in John 10:10, as an integral part of our Vision for St Peter’s to be a place that is “Going Deeper, Seeking God, and Reaching Out”  Life Groups are places for us to develop our relationship with Jesus, explore the Spiritual Gifts God has given us and be places where we can invite friends to discover the richness of a relationship with Jesus.

If you’d like to find out more about the thinking behind Life Groups, have a look at the Life Groups Ethos Page.

On this page, you’ll find the notes being currently used by the Life Groups – and if you’d like to join one, please get in touch by contacting us.

2026 – A Year of Re-Vision

Our Vision is for St Peter’s to be a Church that is Rooted, Seeking and Reaching:

  • Rooted in Word and Spirit
  • Seeking God in Prayer and Worship
  • Reaching Out in the Presence and Love of Jesus

A “Vision Statement” is a picture that describes an aspiration, an image of what we would like to see and, in terms of the Church, is where we seek to understand what God would like St Peter’s to look like in the future. Whilst we may be doing something of this at the moment (and we believe we are!), we want to be a Church where this is clearly obvious to all around us.

St Peter’s Vision Statement is now five years old and, guess what, we haven’t got there yet! There is absolutely no doubt that in the past five years, we have striven to work towards the fulfilment of the Vision but we can always do more.

2026 is a year of Re-Vision. Not a year when we look backwards, although we want to learn from what has and hasn’t worked. Not a year when we change or do things differently. Not a year when we seek a new Vision. But a year of Re-Vision, when we seek to be Re-Rooted, Re-Seeking and Re-Reaching.

Spring 2026 – Seeking God – with honesty before him

In the second part of or series to ReFresh the Vision of St Peter’s, we are taking a term to explore the Psalms – 150 expressions of worship and praise, love and joy, frustration and anger, pain and suffering … and almost every other emotion known to life. Each week, we will look at a Psalm and seek what God is saying to us through it.
