Last year, we had an amazing opportunity to “Reach Out” into the community with a Saturday afternoon barbecue at Cranford Park School. With a free bbq, face painting, games and a speaker, it was a great event and we estimate that around 300 people came along. It was also an event that helped to kickstart events such as the Harvest Pizza Party and the Winter Warmer in January.
And we are doing it again this year – on Saturday 14th June! It will be bigger and better, with an ice cream van and petting zoo, and plans are well underway.
As you may be aware, our church finances are a bit stretched at the moment but we would like this to be a totally free event (apart from the ice cream van!). We are budgeting the total cost at about £1000 and hoping we can attract 500 people, meaning an estimated £2 a head is the cost of making this happen.
So we are inviting everyone to contribute financially to the event, with the idea of asking whether you would like to be a BBQ Buddy and enable a number of other people to attend.
£20 will enable 10 people to attend … you get the idea. One thing is important to say … please would you not give to this in place if your normal giving, but as a one-off gift for this event (and we should be able to add Gift Aid).
